Painting & Decorating  ~  It's all about the prep !!

Keep it Rustic !

Nine doors over two floors, plenty of woodwork.  Radiator and bannisters.  Hardwood upper-floor and stairs.

Over 200m of masking tape.

I had to protect the hardwood from, yes, paint, but more-so, paint dust which could get stuck in every crevice.

Farrow & Ball paint colour chosen by the client works really well against the 'Cabbages & Roses' wallpaper.

A great little hand sander attached to vacuum cleaner minimised dust and even stayed on the wall due to the suction.

Pics below run in chrono order, beginning with some bare-wood doors and their blemishes, thru the masking & prep to the finish.

Interior woodwork painted in Shepton Mallet  BA4.

In this bedroom project the bare plaster was beautiful but the expanse of walls and ceiling made it seem a bit too samey.

The client wanted to keep some bare plaster - we decided to paint only the walls.

Where two of the walls met the ceiling there was no edge - the ceiling curved into wall.

I created a straight paint edge with masking tape.

Walls painted in Wincanton BA9.

Time taken - 1 day.

Garden furniture rescue!

One more year of exposure would have made this job extremely difficult.

Fortunately the client had invested in a good-quality hardwood set and I had only to remove, harden and refill in six areas.

Plenty of wire brushing, wire wool and sanding was required.

One coat of primer and two of Zinsser Allcoat (amazing paint that dries quickly, allowing fast recoat time) .  They should be good for years.

Furniture restored in Wincanton BA9.

Time taken - 2 days.
